2016 Memories Take 1

2-12-16

R2: if you had to lose a finger or toe which one would you pick?
Me: Probably a pinky finger, they get used less often.
R3: If I had to pick something to lose it would be my hair, not like an arm.., I’m gonna need those!

2-18-16

R2: When we get a dog can we get two? A brown one AND a black one? I read last night that black dogs are the least likely to be adopted.
Me: That’s true, most black dogs are put to sleep.
R1:WHAT? WHY? What’s wrong with black dogs? People are racist!

December Week 1

R2 got her new reading glasses

We went to AL a day early so we could spend extra time with B.

We went to the mall to check out the Stride Rite going-out-of-business sale and scored two awesome pairs of shoes for R3 and R4. R4 was in heaven in that store. We walked in and she exclaimed, “SHOES!!” and then sat on the bench and took her shoes off. The big kids brought her pair after pair to try on and she strutted around the store in each pair. When it was time to go she was NOT putting her old shoes back on… so she left wearing a new pair. $30 for two pairs of Stride Rite shoes is not a bad deal!

Then B paid for her to ride the carousel because her little heart was broken (and she hadn’t napped).

After the mall we went to the park but didn’t stay long because it was getting colder by the minute as the sun went down.

Friday we went to UAB for R2’s appt and then drove home. We got home just in time for R1’s basketball game and then we went to see the hockey game.

November Notables (FB Posts)

Nov 18:

R4 tried to nurse from R1!!

Nov 23:

R2 said she would forfeit her 4 things for Christmas (something want/need/wear/read) if she could have one of those plastic figures to put in the yard to decorate. This kid.

Nov 25:

Remy loves her El-o panties so much she has to wear them outside her clothes, too.

Nov 27:

Remy just told me “No, ma’am!” when I took the seat out of the van that she was trying to sit on.

R1 is playing Halo with R4. He shot her and she fell down. She pointed at the screen and said, “Uh oh, ee dead.” This is what happens when you have a big brother.

Nov 28:

Decorating the tree…
Raeghel: It needs more lights!
Chris: No, it’s fine.
R2: You don’t understand.
Chris: I do understand, you have an obsession.

Sweet Kids

R1: Mommy, I think Daddy needs you.
Me: He’ll call me if he needs me.
R1: But he’s throwing up! He needs you!
Me: Adults don’t really need anyone when they throw up.
R2: What? Why NOT?
Me: Because we’re adults, we can handle it. There’s really not much anyone can do.

They’re so confused as to why I didn’t jump up and run in to help like I do when THEY are sick. <3

Pfft… She’s A Hoot

Mr. Fox: It’s Fathers day tomorrow and I have a list of things for y’all to do. R1 is going to put on a new roof, R2 is going to cut the grass, and R3is going to vacuum the pool.
R2: Sweet, I want to cut the grass!
Mr. Fox: With scissors.
R2: I’ll vacuum the pool.
Mr. Fox: Ries is going to do it with a straw…
R2: Aaaannnnd we’re back to the grass….

ROFL I love that kid <3

Vulcan, Frozen and Screaming

This morning we went on a field trip with our homeschool friends to Vulcan. It was fun and the kids (well, R1 and R3) enjoyed taking the elevator to the top. The house was being shown from 12-2 so we accepted Seester’s invitation to see Frozen in 3D at the dollar theater. I dropped Nana and the kids off and R4 and I went next door to Bargain Hunt where I scored a shirt for R3 for $.30 and a Woombie fo $10 (but it’s too small :( ).

Afterwards we headed back to the theater and nursed in the parking lot.

WP_20140418_010

I tried, unsuccessfully, to get R4 to sleep in my arms but since she was smiling and talking to me I missed the window and all of a sudden she was overtired and angry.

WP_20140418_007

I got out and wrapped her and went to stand on the sidewalk around the theater since it was misting and chilly. She yelled at me while I bounced for a good 10 minutes. She would NOT let me tuck her head in and so she continued to overstimulate herself. Finally I cupped my hands on each side of her face and shh’d into her ear and she zonked right out. But while I was doing all of that this nice older lady drove past, turned around and came back to ask me if I needed something for the baby! I nicely replied, “No, thank you” but according to Aunt S I missed an opportunity. She says I should have said, “Yes, diapers!” ROFL

I Took 5 (Yes, FIVE) Kids to FL

I still haven’t blogged about the fact that we are moving to FL, guess I should get around to that. Mr. Fox is already there, commuting home on the weekends. I made 2 appt’s with MW’s in FL to try and find someone to HB with since we’ll be there when I have this baby. I decided that we might as well make a week of it and go to the beach, etc. And I thought it would be a great idea to take two of my nieces with us. :) T had been to the beach with us 2 years ago and was so anxious to go again and J hadn’t ever been, so of course I brought them!

So, here’s pics of them hanging at Mema’s and playing at the beach:

It was R2’s birthday that Sunday, so she relished the spoiling:

Mema’s AC went out and sweet friends let us spend the night at their house. They have 5 kids and each has their own room, so each of my 5 claimed a room and thought it was the most awesome thing ever! Here’s 3 of the girls hanging out watching a movie:

And even though they each had a room J wanted T to sleep with her:

Wishing Wells, Kids Museums and A Retirement Home

While in Pensacola, the kids and I went to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. The hostess seated us right next to the fountain in the middle of the restaurant, which the kids appreciated. When we finished our meal R3 wanted a penny to throw in so I gave them each one. As we got back into the van I asked them what they wished for and R1 answered:

R3 wished for a pet unicorn and R2 just threw hers in with no wish, I wished for (I can’t remember what he said, but it’s the next part that’s awesome) _____ but now I wish I had wished that the girls would be my mindless slaves. To which R2 replies, “that’s not gonna happen.”

After lunch we went to the Children’s Museum, a cute little place where we got to play and learn about Pensacola History.

Here the girls are trying to figure out how to fit all of the cargo into the ship:

We had a lot of fun reading books, making quilts out of patterned blocks and reading about the Native Americans and local forts during the war.

The next day, before we left for home, we went with Mema to the retirement home where she works because it happened to be music day. There’s a musician who comes once a month to entertain the residents.

It took some prodding but finally R3 danced with Mema:

One of the ladies who got up to dance to Old Time Rock’n’Roll has CHF and ended up almost passing out. The paramedics came and it turns out she’s fine (and actually God partially healed her!!! She used to have 35% something to do with her heart – I know, I’m so specific – and now it’s 65%!) R1 said to me, quietly, “I feel bad that that lady got sick but it was really cool to get to see the paramedics.” <3
