Day of Crafts

The kids and I had some fun with crafts today!

Snowman handprint bulbs – this one is R3′s

then we made this cool “snowflake” for the tree.

We also made a bunch of snowflakes from coffee filters – R2 seems to have a knack!

Then the girls painted shiny pictures with condensed milk colored with food color. I’ll have to get some pics.

Advent Day 6

I’m doing this each morning with the kids. I had to record their answers to the last question. :)

R3: because if we die who will save us?

R1: because otherwise we wouldn’t be here

Haircuts

The kids all needed a trim but then the girls decided they wanted CUTS! I was leery, I really love my girls’ hair, especially R2′s. Those curls! Well, Ms. Jessica not only cut it but she straightened R2′s, also, something we’ve never done. R2 LOVED it! She wouldn’t wash it for three days! LOL Here are a few quick snaps:

We trimmed the back of R1′s a bit, too, but it’s rare that I get a decent pic of him!

Going to the Zoo

We went to the Zoo, it’s been a really long time! Here are the highlights:

First column is pretty obvious. Second column, first pic – R1 says these are “rock star” monkeys / under that is the baby lion cubs / then R3 determined to pet EVERY goat in the petting area / and R3 wanting so badly to pet that rooster!.

Third column: R1 pretending to be Scooby Doo / R1 and then R2 feeding the lorikeets.

Fourth column: R3 feeding them “Look, I’m not even freaking out!” she said. And then the girls pretending to be captured by the monster.

Fun, fun fun!

The kids loved this shoot so much the last time we did it they begged to do it again. :) Here are a few pics:

The top one is an outtake but I love it. The bottom one, the pose was R2′s idea and I thought it was so sweet.

Clean Mud/Clouds

This was fun!

Watching the soap in the microwave – they were thoroughly impressed by this!

Adding the toilet paper:

Add a little color and viola! FUN!

Elephant Watering Can and AL State Flag Cookies

One of R3′s chores is to water the plants. She was carrying a cup of water back and forth to fill it about 3 trips and was asking for a watering can. :) I found the cutest idea in the Family Fun magazine and decided to make it for her.

Here we are gluing on the eyes and ears.

And here she’s showing it off:

Sister had to jump in on the pic:

And here she is using it!

Big brother likes it too:

Later on, after Seester and her crew arrived, we made AL State Flag Cookies.

Wanna make some?

Graham Crackers
Cream cheese (or icing)
Twizzlers (or red piping icing)

Put icing/cheese on cracker, arrange twizzler/red icing in an X – viola!

The Armor of God and American Quilts

Yesterday during school R1 asked me to teach him more about the armor of God from Ephesians 6:11-17 so I found this and printed three copies of the person and the armor and today we colored, laminated and velcroed (yes, I make up words) and this is what we have!

Here’s R3 coloring hers after her nap. I’m not sure she’d have been as into it if she hadn’t seen the finished ones by the big kids after her nap.

Then for our art project, we are studying North America this week (and for the next 4 weeks) so I chose the Early American Quilt from our art book Global Art. Each child picked their fabric and I cut out their squares – then we laid them out on our posterboard (12×12 for the girls and 8×30 for R1) and glued them down.

Here is a pic of the three “quilts.”

Just Another Day of School

R1 and R2 made their Celtic brooches to wear on their cloaks while R3 napped on Wed, here is a pic of the finished product on Thurs.

He was disappointed when I said I would not paint his face blue. :)

R3 did some lacing while the bigs did their worksheets.

And then the girls did some bean sorting while R1 finished up his math.

Six Flags

We had a great time at Six Flags on Tuesday. I’m still worn out from it!!
