Almost 2

R4 is so much fun. I can’t believe she’s already turning 2… I’m having a bit of a case of the feels about it. She’s our last. So all of these first are our last firsts. It’s hard.

She talks a ton now, having recently experienced a surge in her language. One of my favorite things about this age is how she says “ah” before every word and it can me I or I want. She LOVES dogs and gets so excited, making a big O with her mouth, whenever she hears one bark. She also loves to see big trucks on the road when we’re traveling (which we do often due to R2 going to B’ham for her braces and R1 going to Atlanta for OIT) and yells truck (guck) whenever she sees one.

Ry = Yi Yi
Raeghan = Yay Yay
Ries = Dies (Ries with a D)
Baby = Dady
Lollipop = lalalala
Potty = Tee

She also says outside, Mom, Dad, Elmo (Eh-oh), Wiggles (she wiggles her shoulders and says boo) and Ew (eeyoo).

She’s become a bit of a picky eater, kind of a let down after all the stuff she ate her first year. She’ll almost always eat rice, yogurt, bananas, and blueberries.

She loves to help the big kids and I do things around the house. She usually refuses to be fed, preferring to do it herself. She LOVES babies of all kinds and almost always has a doll in her arms. She also likes to play “mom and dad” with most anything: cars, silverware, blocks, little people. She has them talk to each other in her gibberish and throws in a Mom and Dad here and there, it’s adorable. She also likes to drop her pants and shake her butt saying, “booyee”!! She loves to swing, saying “I hi” and will swing the entire time we’re at the park. She loves her Mum mum’s (nursing) and still nurses about 4-6 times a day and would do so more often if I let her, LOL. She gives hugs and kisses and high fives and fist bumps. She sleeps on her own pillow, something the others didn’t do until they were older, when she’s done nursing she rolls over and crawls up to her pillow.

She’s amazing and smart and funny as all get out. We couldn’t imagine life without her.

December Week 1

R2 got her new reading glasses

We went to AL a day early so we could spend extra time with B.

We went to the mall to check out the Stride Rite going-out-of-business sale and scored two awesome pairs of shoes for R3 and R4. R4 was in heaven in that store. We walked in and she exclaimed, “SHOES!!” and then sat on the bench and took her shoes off. The big kids brought her pair after pair to try on and she strutted around the store in each pair. When it was time to go she was NOT putting her old shoes back on… so she left wearing a new pair. $30 for two pairs of Stride Rite shoes is not a bad deal!

Then B paid for her to ride the carousel because her little heart was broken (and she hadn’t napped).

After the mall we went to the park but didn’t stay long because it was getting colder by the minute as the sun went down.

Friday we went to UAB for R2’s appt and then drove home. We got home just in time for R1’s basketball game and then we went to see the hockey game.

She Knows What She Wants

My baby is funny. :) She’s does really well in the car as long as it’s day time and she’s swaddled. This swaddle blanket has a harness slit in it.

The portable noise machine we bought seems to help a lot, too. We went three places today and every time I put her back in her seat she went right to sleep. But if it’s after 4 or so she will scream. She wants to be home in the evenings.

She also wants me to rock her for about 10 minutess before I put her in the swing for naps and I am more than happy to oblige since for the last 2 weeks she hasn’t wanted to be rocked and I was missing it!

I Took 5 (Yes, FIVE) Kids to FL

I still haven’t blogged about the fact that we are moving to FL, guess I should get around to that. Mr. Fox is already there, commuting home on the weekends. I made 2 appt’s with MW’s in FL to try and find someone to HB with since we’ll be there when I have this baby. I decided that we might as well make a week of it and go to the beach, etc. And I thought it would be a great idea to take two of my nieces with us. :) T had been to the beach with us 2 years ago and was so anxious to go again and J hadn’t ever been, so of course I brought them!

So, here’s pics of them hanging at Mema’s and playing at the beach:

It was R2’s birthday that Sunday, so she relished the spoiling:

Mema’s AC went out and sweet friends let us spend the night at their house. They have 5 kids and each has their own room, so each of my 5 claimed a room and thought it was the most awesome thing ever! Here’s 3 of the girls hanging out watching a movie:

And even though they each had a room J wanted T to sleep with her:

Wishing Wells, Kids Museums and A Retirement Home

While in Pensacola, the kids and I went to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. The hostess seated us right next to the fountain in the middle of the restaurant, which the kids appreciated. When we finished our meal R3 wanted a penny to throw in so I gave them each one. As we got back into the van I asked them what they wished for and R1 answered:

R3 wished for a pet unicorn and R2 just threw hers in with no wish, I wished for (I can’t remember what he said, but it’s the next part that’s awesome) _____ but now I wish I had wished that the girls would be my mindless slaves. To which R2 replies, “that’s not gonna happen.”

After lunch we went to the Children’s Museum, a cute little place where we got to play and learn about Pensacola History.

Here the girls are trying to figure out how to fit all of the cargo into the ship:

We had a lot of fun reading books, making quilts out of patterned blocks and reading about the Native Americans and local forts during the war.

The next day, before we left for home, we went with Mema to the retirement home where she works because it happened to be music day. There’s a musician who comes once a month to entertain the residents.

It took some prodding but finally R3 danced with Mema:

One of the ladies who got up to dance to Old Time Rock’n’Roll has CHF and ended up almost passing out. The paramedics came and it turns out she’s fine (and actually God partially healed her!!! She used to have 35% something to do with her heart – I know, I’m so specific – and now it’s 65%!) R1 said to me, quietly, “I feel bad that that lady got sick but it was really cool to get to see the paramedics.” <3

Finders Keepers Treasures

I saw this on a blog and when I told the kids about it they thought it was a great idea so we started collecting rocks and shells. We hit the jackpot last week when we went swimming at the creek:

So today, while R1, R2 and I started a game of Yahtzee I got R3 started on painting.

And she was having so much fun that the rest of us started wandering over to help when it wasn’t our turn in the game.

After the paint dried we went back and used Mod Podge (made by me thanks to Pinterest), stickers, googly eyes and other objects to decorate them – and we wrote a message on the bottoms of the ones we could (“Bless You”, “Jesus Loves You”, “Peace”, etc.).

The boy got a little carried away with the googly eyes, but they turned out so cute!

And I’m super proud of this one – the one on the left is a bird that R3 made! I was seriously impressed. And the one on the right R1 made to go with it – love his idea to use leaves as wings.

I’m sure you’re wondering what the point is… we put them all in a basket to keep in our car. From now on when we go somewhere in town the kids will pick a few to leave in strategic places in hopes that other children will find them and get a sweet surprise to brighten their day.

“First Day of School”

I printed out pages with the kids’ grades on them for them to hold up today so I could take a pic and when I woke up I started thinking about dressing them up and taking pics… and then I realized that that was silly. So, after cuddling time in my bed and then going outside and back in and back out and back in to play with Trio’s I decided to snap a “real” picture:

Since discovering TJEd we don’t really ever stop schooling around here – it’s really starting to become a way of life, learning in everything we do. I’m so thankful for this journey God has brought us on.

NC/GA Adventures

The kids and I took off for 2 weeks to NC to visit my BFF and her family. We had so.much.fun. R lives at the bottom of a mountain so there is tons of wildlife and beautiful views. And the weather was perfect.

Here are a few scrapbook pages – more coming! We went to the WNC Nature Center, the Arboretum and Health Adventure while there. On our way home we stopped in GA to stay with another friend and went to the Stone Mountain Laser Show and the Yellow River Game Ranch.
