I stopped by Aldi on a whim yesterday and spent $26 (mostly on produce). I had Publix’s prices for this week fresh in my head since I’d just looked over the ad, so that helped. Here’s the comparison:
My Aldi Receipt:
Broccoli Crowns 16 oz 1.49
3 Green Peppers 1.99
Celery 24-ct. .99
Honeycrisp Apples 2lb 1.49
Sweet Onions .44/lb (they were in bags, advertised as “2lb for 1.69 and one of my bags rang up as weighing 2.81lb)
Bananas .44lb
Sweet Potatoes 3lb 1.99
Red Pears 2lb .99 (Starkrimson, to be exact)
Green Grapes 2lb 2.98
Large Eggs (hormone free!) 1.39
2 cans pear halves .89 each
My total: $26.36
Publix ad this week:
Honeycrisp Apples, $1.99/lb ($11.94 for the same amt I got at Aldi)
Bosc or Bartlett Pears, $.99/lb
Sweet Onions, $.99/lb
I’ll have to go into Publix and write down the prices for the rest of my items and report back. If any of you has been this week and knows more of the prices, lmk!!
Dislcaimer: I DID have to dig for good apples. They were prebagged and some had holes and a lot of them were slightly bruised but at that price, it was worth it and Mr. Fox says they taste just as good as the ones I got from Publix last week for 3.49/lb!!
