R2 Remixes Bible Songs

“Peter, James and John in a cell phone.”

I’m still laughing and it was yesterday that she sang it. :)

Fruity

My kids, they are fruity. :)

I’m working on pictures for my kitchen, I’ve taken pictures of the kids with different fruits/veggies; hands full of blueberries or okra, and now them eating apples and peaches.

Of course, any time I take pics of my kids there are lots of outtakes.

Things to Remember

I often try to scrap the things my kids say, especially when pictures accompany, but I have to write them down when they’re fresh or I will forget by the time I get to scrap!

So yesterday I took the bigs to the library (we hadn’t been in, like, a year) and it’s a different library than we used to go to since we moved. When we pulled up and parked in front of the field of pine trees R2 said, “Is this the liberry?” And I said, “Yes.” And she said, “It’s beauuuuuutiful!!”

So R1 jumps out and runs into the field while I’m unloading R2 and he finds a dead butterfly and brings it over to show us. R2 is in love. Yes, you guessed it, “It’s beauuuuuuuutiful!!! Can we keep it?” I figure why not, right? So we leave it in the van and go in. And she picks out a Kids Discover magazine that’s all about butterflies and as she’s looking at it on the way home she’s gushing at how beauuuuuuutiful they all are. :)

We got home and took some pictures of it and then put it in a jar.

R3 Got Her First Haircut

She this straggly mullet-like baby hair thing going on and so we decided it was time for a cut. It looks so much better now but it’s SHORT! And it makes her look like such a big girl. I’m not ready for her to be a big girl (even though it doesn’t seem to matter since she’s potty-trained herself!), she’s my last, my baby!!!

Before:

After (pardon the messy face, this was taken in the middle of dinner!)

MoRM – What I’ve Learned

It’s been a long road, this becoming a woman, a mother, being comfortable in my own skin. I’m still not there yet but I’m much closer than I have been before. God has refined me. Changed me. Broken and rebuilt me. And while it hurt, boy did it hurt, I am so grateful.

I’ve learned a lot.

I’ve learned that any friend worth having doesn’t care if your house is clean and doesn’t care if you see her dirty house.

I’ve learned that everyone is ugly on the inside. The true beauty is when someone is honest and open enough to show you their warts.

I’ve learned that the best friends I have ever had are the ones who love me IN SPITE of my shortcomings (and there are many).

I’ve learned that being a mother is a blessing straight from God that should never be taken for granted – and yet it can’t be helped, we’re human.

I’ve learned that my husband is downright amazing. He just is. I thank God for creating him for me, because there is no doubt in my mind that the Lord created us for each other.

I’ve learned that honoring my mother doesn’t mean that I have to dishonor myself.

I’ve learned that my children WILL do as I do and not as I say.

I’ve learned that I have to fill my cup before I can pour into anyone else’s.

I’ve learned that God is nothing short of miraculous. That He is loving, forgiving, merciful, just, righteous and I am crazy about Him.

I’ve learned that the messier my house is the happier my family is and in 30 years no one will remember that the house was a mess.

I’ve learned that life is short.

I’ve learned how to love. And how to be loved.

And that is amazing.

Potty Tales

R2 on the potty with her eyes closed. I walk in and say, “Whoa, did you fall asleep on the potty?”

R2: The poop is my treasure!
Me: What? Why is the poop your treasure?
R2: Because this is a treasure house.
Me: The bathroom?
R2: No, the whole house. It’s supposed to be full of treasure.
Me: Oh. Well then maybe you should be the treasure.
R2: No.
Me: Oh I can be the treasure.
R2: No, you’re the Queen.
Me: Who are you?
R2: The Princess!
Me: So who is R1?
R2: He’s the aliens!

Homeschooling, Nightweaning and Organizing

This is a picture of the file folder containers I found at Target tonight, which are perfect for the games I’ve been making for the kids. Underneath it is a storage bin containing 20 preschool activities for my girls that I got in a coop with my mama friends.

This is where all of our curriculum is stored for the kids.

And these are the binders that I use to store each child’s artwork.

*****

Tonight we start nightweaning. She really only nurses once, maybe twice but I’m so ready for her to move into bed with her big sister and brother. So we’re going to give it a shot. I talked to her about it a little today and she seemed to understand.

We shall see. I’ll report back tomorrow. :)

*****

I’m quite proud of myself. As most know, I lack the organizational/clean/homemaker gene. Nada. But I’ve slowly been working on cleaning up and organizing areas of the house. Last week I tackled the bathroom and sorted all of the stuff into two bins under the sink. Also cleaned out the crazy basket on the back of the commode and got a neat container that fits perfectly to hold the brush, wipes and a few other misc. things. We have no counter space in our bathroom so this helped a ton!

I also bought two racks for the tops of the bathroom door and R2′s bedroom door to hang clothes on – the one in the bathroom is perfect for the many swimsuits we have in there daily. Comes with having a pool in the backyard. :)

Today I sorted through all of the kids clothes and put them into labeled bins by size. AND I put together a pile to donate and a HUGE pile to give to my sister.

Can I just say that I am tickled to know that when I pass her these 12-24 months clothes I will NOT be getting them back! *sigh of relief*

We Shut Down the Playground

So I loaded the kids up today and headed to the Rave for their free family movie, Hotel for Dogs. I was doing good, out of the house by 9 and even with getting gas and swinging by Mr. Fox’s work to pick up the CFA coupons we were on time, early even.

But when we pulled into the parking lot and I saw THREE school buses and 1,000 people (ok, maybe not a 1,000) standing at the doors I had a mild anxiety attack. And all of a sudden I could.not.go.in.there. So I called Mr. Fox and asked him what kids movies were playing at the $ theater. We could choose between Marmaduke and How to Train Your Dragon (which R1 had already seen but had coincidentally asked Mr. Fox this morning to take him to see it again). So HTTYD it was. But it didn’t start until 12:30 and it was currently 9:45.

So I called Seester and asked her if she and the girls wanted to meet us at CFA for an early lunch (since we didn’t eat breakfast – hey, I was out of the house at 9, I can’t do everything!) and play. She said sure and that she would take R3 home for a nap if I would take Chewy Butt with us to the movies.

So we meet, the kids play, we eat and play some more, the kids make new friends and start a game of Duck, Duck, Goose and then R3 forgets that she’s potty-trained and pees inside the play structure. We SHUT IT DOWN. Yeah, good times.

So we left for the movie and Seester took the littles back to her place to eat ice cream and nap (in that order). :)

The movie was great, we all enjoyed it. Will definitely buy it on DVD.

Trip to the Farmer’s Market

R2 and I took our first trip to the Calera Farmer’s Market. We had originally planned to go as a family but when Mr. Fox called and heard the kids yelling at each other in the background and I told him I still hadn’t managed a shower (at 3:30) he said, “why don’t you go alone, you sound like you could use a break.” I heart him. I knew he wanted to get some things done here at the house so I took R2 with me.

She was so pleasant, I really enjoyed her company. She was so cute walking around with her sunglasses on, she got at least 3 compliments! I let her help choose what to buy and she even paid and carried some of our purchases. She picked okra, peaches, apples and I got a jar of honey. :)

As we were leaving I bought her a sno cone and she was happy as a clam all the way to Target.

She was quiet for a while and then said, “Mommy, all the girls and all the Mommies are princesses and sweethearts of God!”

Me: “They are?”
R2: “Yes, He loves them.”
Me: “What about the boys and the daddies? Are they princes?”
R2: “Ummm, I fink He loves them, too.”

She’s so stinkin’ sweet.

MoTR #3

This is my living room right now.

Saturday Mr. Fox and I spent the night away from the kids and while my sis kept them from destroying the house, it wasn’t perfect when we got back. :) Yesterday we didn’t get home til noon and then we went to Costco for a few hours – and we were beat so we watched a movie and went to bed.

This morning I got up bright and early and took the kids to pick blueberries so we were gone all day – and then we were in the pool ’til 5:30 when we got back. I made a quick dinner and then ran to Target while Mr. Fox put the kids to bed.

And so here I sit. Not wanting to clean up. And to be completely honest on MoTR Monday, I won’t clean it up. Not until tomorrow anyway. :)
